Chapter 3:

The demise of her Holiness

Soon your daughter will inform you about her severe sorrow and burning pain on her chest that she could not express to anyone.

Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) was afflicted by a severe illness that lasted forty days

Imam Ali's poem translation:

The company someone keeps to separation always leads

Ali (Allah Salute) buried Fatima at night and effaced the trace of her grave

Ali (Allah Salute) buried Fatima in secret for the fear of her enemies

God will make heaven obligatory for anybody who sends salutations to him and me

She was pregnant with a child, she miscarried after the Prophet's demise

he would say, “Besides Koran and Nahj Al Balagha by Imam Ali (Allah Salute) Mafatih Al Jinan (1)by Sheikh Abbas Qomi can be found almost in every Shia Moslem house.”

Especially for the sake of dear Non-Moslem or new Moslem readers, we try to introduce Shia Islam, and Great Shia tradition recorder, Abbas Qomi briefly. Moreover, we will provide important explanations at the footnotes.

Attention: No one but Allah does exactly know 14 Infallibles eminences and superiorities. Because many parts of the book are recorded from what Infallibles have said about Fatima Zahra, the texts are exactly true but a little bit difficult to

figure out by new Moslems.

Therefore, if something seems new for you, it does not mean it is not reliable.

If you know 14 Infallibles as most Shia Moslems do, you will not have any problem with their eminences and superiorities (1).

It is just the same as, you want to worm your way through the sea if you want to calculate their eminences with human mind. Human mind is too poor to understand metaphysical facts. It may spring to mind Jesus Christ speaking as he was a baby, and several other strange things about him and other prophets. As Koran quotes and approves the happenings about them.

that, “the great scholar Helli, the author of Odad recorded and quoted that Khadija gave birth to Fatima, five years after the Holy Prophet's Be'sat.”

One day, the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) and Ali (Allah Salute), the Holy Leader of the Believers, sat in Abtah (1) with Ammar Ibne (2) Yasser, Monzar Ibne Zahzah, Hamza, Abbas, Abu-Bakr, and Omar. Suddenly, Gabriel was sent down in his real face, spread his wings from east to west calling his Holiness,“ O Mohammed (Allah Salute),The Almighty and Supreme God sends you greetings and commands you to leave Khadija for forty nights and days. ”

So the Holy Prophet did not go to

Khadija's house and fasted the days and prayed at nights until mornings. He sent Khadija this message by Ammar, “O Khadija! If I do not come to you is not due to unwillingness or enmity. Almighty God has commanded this to run his destiny. Do not think about yourself but with grace. Indeed, God is proud of you with his angles. You should close the doors of your house and sleep on your own bed. I am in the house of Fatima(1), the daughter of Asad, until the divine date finishes. ” Khadija cried several times a day due to her separation from his Holiness.

After forty days, God sent down Gabriel to say, “O Mohammed! The Almighty, Supreme God sends you greetings and

commands you to get ready for his favor and munificent gift.” Then ,suddenly, Michael was sent down and brought a tray covered by a piece of heavenly green silk cloth and put it in front of the Holy Prophet and said," Your creator commands you to break your fast with this food tonight."

Ali (Allah Salute), the Holy Leader of the Believers says,” Every night when it was time for the Holy Prophet to break his fast, he ordered me to open the door for everyone who wanted to break his fast with his Holiness.” At that special night, he ordered to sit at the door and not to let anybody come in because God had forbidden that food for all except him. Then, when he started to break his fast, he took the napkin off the tray. There was

a bunch of dates and grapes from heaven fruits and a bowl of heaven water at the middle of the tray.

Therefore, the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) had enough from those special fruits and drank from that water to satiety. Gabriel poured water on his pure hands from heaven jar. Michael washed his hands, and Seraph cleaned his hands with a piece of heavenly handkerchief. Afterwards, other angels took the rest of the food and the dishes back to the sky.

When the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) got up to do his prayers, Gabriel said, "At this time, doing prayers is not allowed for you. (It is obvious that he wanted to do

Prophet (Allah Salute) and Imams (1)(Allah Salute) used to do their sunset prayers first and then break their fast). You must go to Khadija's house right now and bed with her; as tonight the Almighty God wants to create the pure progeny from your generation.”

Therefore, the Holy Prophet went towards Khadija's house. Khadija says, “I used to be alone. All nights I shut the doors and hung the curtains, did prayers, turned off the light, and slept on bed. At that special night while sleeping, I heard some knocks on the door’’. Therefore, asked, “Who is knocking?” Since no body is allowed to knock on this door, except

Mohammed (Allah Salute). His Holiness replied, “Dear Khadija! Open the door. It’s Mohammed.”

Having heard his pleasurable voice, I jumped to feet and opened the door. It was his Holiness habit asking for water, performing minor ablution(1), then doing two units of prayers, and going to bed. However, at that happy ending night, none of them happened. As soon as he came in, he took my hand to bed. When he got up from the bed, I found light of Fatima in me.”

When Khadija got pregnant with Fatima, She used to talk to her mother inside her

By authentic documents, Sheikh Sadouq quoted from Mofazzal Ibne Omar that he asked Imam Sadeq(1) (Allah Salute) about Holy Fatima's birthday. Imam Sadeq (Allah Salute) replied, “When Khadija intended to marry the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute),women of Mecca left her because of enmity to his Holiness. They did not say hello to her and did not let any woman go to visit her. Although it caused Khadija a great panic, most of her sadness and complaint was for the Prophet Mohammed (Allah Salute), not for herself. She was concerned not to let people harm a hair on the Holy Prophets head through their intensive enmity. When she got pregnant with Fatima, She used

to talk to her mother, Khadija, inside her. Fatima was her companion, asking her to have patience.

Khadija concealed this situation from the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute). Nevertheless, once his Holiness came in and saw Khadija talking to someone. He found no one there and asked her, “O Khadija! To whom are you talking? ” Khadija replied, “The child in me talks to me and is my companion. ”(1) The Holy Prophet said, “Right now Gabriel is informing me that our child is a girl. She is the pure, auspicious, and blessed progeny. The Supreme God will create my progeny from her. There will be Imams

and religious Leaders from her progeny. And the Transcendent God will appoint them his own divine Leaders on the Earth when revelation comes to the end after me as the last Prophet of God.”

Khadija was in such a situation, until she was about to give birth to Fatima. When khadija felt pangs of childbirth sent somebody to Quraish (1)women and Hashemites (2)to attend her. They sent this message in reply, “We told you not to get married with Abu- Taleb's (3)orphan, Mohammed, who has got no money, but you didn't obey our order and didn't accept what we said. That’s why we don't

come to your house to take care of you.” Khadija became upset when she heard this message.

In such state, suddenly four tall ladies who were tawny like Hashimites attended her. Khadija was scared seeing them. So one of them said, “Khadija don't be afraid of us! God has sent us to help you. I am Sarah, Abraham's wife (Allah Salute),here is Assia, the daughter of Mozahem(1) who will be your friend in heaven, the third of us is the Blessed Virgin Mary, the daughter of Omran, and the fourth is Kolsom, Moses sister. Almighty God has sent us to be with you and help you at this situation. Therefore, one of them sat at the right side of Khadija and the other

one sat at the left. The third Lady sat at the front side and the fourth sat behind of her Holiness.

Then, Holy Fatima Zahra (Allah Salute)descended spotlessly clean and pure. As she arrived on Earth, her heavenly light started to shine, so that not only it lit up Mecca houses, but also there remained no place on Earth unless it was lit up by that luminous light. Then ten paradise maids came in the house, each one holding a hand basin and a flagon full of Kowsar (1) in their hands. Therefore, the woman in front of Khadija picked up the Holy Fatima and immersed her in the water of Kowsar like a major ablution(2). Afterwards, she took out a

piece of white cloth, whiter than milk and more perfumed than musk or ambergris and wrapped Fatima (Allah Salute) in one piece of cloth and made the other piece her scarf(1).

Then, the woman sitting in front of Khadija made Fatima to talk. Fatima said, “I testify that there is no God but Allah, and that my father Mohammed is the best of the Prophets. And I testify that my husband Ali is the best of the true successors of the Prophets and that my children (2) are the best progeny of the Prophets.” Afterwards, Fatima said hello to each of the women and called them truly. They rejoiced because of this.

Paradise nymphs laughed and gave glad

tidings for the birth of the best Lady of the Worlds(1).Besides,a light not seen before appeared in the sky. Then those holy women told Khadija, “Take your little daughter into your arms, who is absolutely pure, immaculate, blessed and spotlessly clean. The Almighty God has blessed her and her generation. ”

Khadija happily and joyfully held her Holiness tight, and put her breast in her mouth. Fatima (Allah Salute) grew up in a daylong that much as other children grow up in a month. Further, she grew up in a month, that much as other children usually grew up in a year.” (2)

Imam Sadeq (Allah Salute) continued, “Do you know what the interpretation of Fatima is?” Younos said, “Inform me of the meaning, sir!” His Holiness replied, “She is totally prevented from all kinds of wickedness. Then said, if the Holy Leader of the Believers, Ali (Allah Salute)

didn't marry her Excellency, until the last judgment day, there wouldn't be any man parallel or equal to marry her, neither Adam nor those who will come after until the last judgment day.”

The most knowledgeable scholar, Majlesi below the translation of this Imam's saying record(1) has added that Seddiqa means an innocent (2)woman. Mobaraka means she who owns blessing in knowledge,

pre-eminence, perfection, miracles, and generous progeny. Tahera means she who is free from imperfect attributes. Zakia means she who is growing up on perfections and good deeds. Razia means she who is pleased with the Almighty's fate. Marzia means she who God admires and His friend’s praise. Mohadasa means the one with whom God's angels used to talk. Zahra means she was luminous both spiritually and in appearance."

It should be mentioned, this honorable Imam's saying record clearly indicates that Ali (Allah Salute), the Holy Leader of the Believers has superiority above all Prophets and their true successors except Mohammed (Allah Salute), the end of the world's Prophet. Even it indicates Fatima

Zahra's superiority (Allah Salute) upon all Prophets and their true successors except Mohammed (Allah Salute).

The Great scholar, Sheikh Sadouq has reported through authentic documents that whenever the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) returned from a journey, he first visited Fatima's house and stayed there for a while. Afterwards, he went to his wives’ houses(1).

While the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) was on one of his journeys, Lady Fatima (Allah Salute) made a necklace, two bracelets, and earrings from silver and hung curtain over the door of the house. When his Holiness returned, he visited Fatima's house while his companions waited at the door. When the Holy Prophet entered and saw Fatima’s, house as such, he left the

house upset, went to the mosque, and sat beside the pulpit in the mosque.

Holy Fatima figured out these are the ornaments made the Holy Prophet angry. Therefore, she removed the necklace, bracelets and earrings, took down the curtains, and sent them all to his Holiness with the following message, “Your daughter sends you greetings and asks you to donate them to the needy for the sake of God.” When the ornaments were brought to his Holiness, he said three times, “What Fatima did was exactly what I wanted her to do. May her father be her sacrifice! This world is not for Mohammed and the family of Mohammed. If this world was worth as much as a mosquito, the Almighty God would not have given the unbelievers a

drop of water to drink.” Then his Holiness stood up and entered Holy Fatima's house.

The most knowledgeable scholars, sheikh Mofid and sheikh Tousi have reported from a Sunni recorder that the Holy Messenger of God said, “Fatima is a piece of me. One who makes her happy has made me happy, and anybody who annoys her has annoyed me. Fatima is the most precious person in the world to me.”

Sheikh Tousi has recorded that Ayesha (1)used to say, “I didn't see anyone more similar to the Holly Messenger in discoursing and speech than Fatima. Whenever Fatima attended his Holiness, he saluted her, kissed her hands, and sat her in his own place. Whenever his Holiness went to Fatima's house, she stood

up and welcomed his Holiness, saluted him and kissed his hands.”

you let me die of thirst? ” So By Fatima's miracle a bucket of water came down for her from the sky. When she drank from that water, she had no need for food or drink for seven years. She did not become thirsty; however, people sent her to hard works on very hot days!

took the chador (1)made from cotton to his house and put it in a room.

When night fell, the Jewish man’s wife went to that room and found a light glowing from the chador that brightly lit the whole room.When the woman saw this strange situation, she went to her husband and narrated what she had seen. The Jewish man got surprised to hear that. He had forgotten that it was the Holy Fatima's Chador in that room. Therefore, he hurried to enter the room. What he found there was a dazzling ray of light, from the Chador of that heavenly firmament sun (2) which lit up the house as a luminous full moon.

The Jewish man became more surprised of this situation! Then the Jewish man and his wife ran to their relative's houses and gathered eighty people. By the blessing of the ray of light of Fatima's Chador, all of the eighty Jews were enlightened by the light of Islam and became Moslems.”(1)

By authentic documents in Qorb-Old-Asnad(2), Imam Baqer(3) (Allah Salute) has quoted that,” The Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) appointed the Holy Leader of the Believers, Ali, (Allah Salute) to carry out outdoor services like bringing water, firewood etc.

and suchlike. In addition, he appointed Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) to carry out indoor services like grinding corn, cooking bread and food, sweeping floor, and so on.”

By authentic documents, Ibne Babeveih has recorded from Imam Hassan(1) (Allah Salute) that his Holiness said,” One Thursday night my mother, Fatima (Allah Salute), stood and started worshipping God and doing prayers. She was continuously bowing, standing, and prostrating herself to God until daybreak. I heard her praying to God continuously for both the faithful women and men by naming them one by one. She prayed for them a lot but didn't pray for herself.” I said, “Oh dear mother! Why didn't you pray for yourself like you

prayed for others?” She replied, “Oh my dear son! First neighbors, next ourselves.”

Tha'labi has recorded from Imam Sadeq (Allah Salute) that one day the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) came to Fatima's house, while she was wearing a piece of clothing made of camel wool and turning grindstone with her holy hands. At the same time, she was feeding her baby. As the Holy Prophet saw her Holiness in such a condition, tears poured down from his cheeks and said, “O my dear daughter! Endure this world's bitterness temporarily for the sake of the hereafter sweetness.” Fatima (Allah Salute) said, “O Holy Divine Prophet! I praise God for his blessings and thank God for His Grace.” Now the Supreme God sent this

verse: “Soon God will bestow upon you (The right of intercession in the judgment day) until you are totally satisfied.”

Hassan Basri records that The Prophet used to say, “Holy Fatima was the most devoted worshipper of God in the Moslem nation. She used to stand up so much worshipping Supreme God, until her feet swelled.” When the Prophet of God asked her, “What is better for a woman?” Fatima (Allah Salute)

replied, “It's better for her, not to look at a man and not to let a man see her(1).” His Holiness embraced his beloved daughter and said, “My daughter is as I expect her.”

Abu Naim Isfahani in his book, Helyat-al-Avlia, has recorded that Holy Fatima

(Allah Salute)turned grindstone until her pure hands blistered and became calloused due to the effect of grinding.

The Spiritual Guide, Koleini has recorded that Imam Sadeq (Allah Salute) said, “Purslane is one of the most beneficial plants on the Earth. It is the vegetable of Fatima (Allah Salute).”then he went on, “Curse upon Bani-Umayyad(1)who called Purslane cereal of imprudent because of their enmity towards us and Holy Fatima (Allah Salute).”

Seyyed Fazlollah Ravandi in his book, Navader, has recorded from the Holy Leader of the Believers, Ali (Allah Salute), that a blind person asked permission from Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) to enter her house. Fatima (Allah Salute) covered

herself from him. The Prophet of God asked Fatima, “Why do you cover yourself from a blind man who can't see you?” She replied, “Although he doesn't see me, I see him. If I'm not veiled, he smells my scent.” His Holiness said, “I testify that you are a part of me.”(1)

Furthermore, Ravandi has recorded that once the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) asked his disciples what the truth is about women. The disciples answered that women are private parts. Then his Holiness asked, “If it is so, in which condition is a woman closer to God?” The disciples could not reply. When heard about this subject, Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) said, “A woman is

closest to God when she remains in her own house and doesn't leave it.” His Holiness said, “Fatima is a part of me.”

The author points out that the pre-eminences and characteristics of the only child of Prophet Mohammed (Allah Salute) are too many to mention here. I content myself with what has mentioned as a summary of her Holy Eminence’s traits to get her Blessings observed.

Blessings that have reached us from the best Lady of Worlds are many. Nonetheless, let us consider the Rosary of Fatima Zahra (Allah Salute) about which there are several records and reports mentioning its supremacy. It is more than enough for everybody to know that according to the records, if anybody says the famous Rosary, morning, noon, and night, he will not become cursed or unsuccessful in life. In addition, from Imam Sadeq's (Allah Salute) point of view: It is better to say it after every prayer than saying one thousand units of prayers each day. The famous manner of the Rosary of Fatima Zahra (Allah Salute) is to say 34 times "Allah o Akbar" which means God is

Greater, then 33 times "Al-hamd o lellah" meaning praise belongs only to Allah, and 33 times

"Sobhan Allah" meaning pure is Allah. The total comes to one hundred times.

The other blessing is the prayer of Noor that her Holiness taught Salman (1)and said, “If you wish never to have a fever in this world(2),recite this prayer.” The prayer is as follows:

“Besm Allah Al-Rahman Al-Rahim. Besm Allah Al-Noor, Besm Allah Al-Noor Al-Noor, Besm Allah Al-Nooron a’la Noor, Besm Allah allazi hova Modabera Al-Umor. Besm Allah allazi khalaghan Noora men Al-Noor. Al-

Hamdo lellah allazi khalaghan Noora men Al-Noor, va anzalan Noora Ala toor, fi ketaben mastour, fi raghen manshour, be ghadaren maghdour, ala nabien mahbour. Al-Hamdo lellah allazi, hova bel ezze mazkour, va bel fakhre mashhour, va alassara e vazzarra e mashkour. Va sal Allaho a’la sayyedena Mohhamaden va alehet taherin. ”(1)

It means “In the name of Allah, the Gracious, and the Merciful. In the name of Allah who is the light. In the name of Allah, the light of light! In the name of Allah, a light upon light! In the name of Allah, who is the organizer of creature's affairs! In the name of Allah who created light from light. Praise belongs only to

Allah who created light from light, and sent down the light on mount Tour(1), in a written book in an unrolled parchment of the destiny destined upon the delighted Prophet. Praise belongs only to Allah mentioned as glorious, famous for his honor, and thanked both in good times and in adversity. And Allah sends salutations upon the best of us Mohammed, and his pure progeny.”

Salman has said, “I swear to God that when I learnt this prayer from Holy Fatima (Allah Salute), I taught it to more than one thousand people from Mecca and Medina suffering from fever and all of them were healed by the permission of God.”

face on the ground and say it one hundred times. Then, prostrate on forehead again and say the invocation a hundred times again. Subsequently, prostrate putting the left side of your face on the ground and say the invocation another hundred times. Finally, say the invocation a hundred and ten times while prostrating on forehead and then ask for your need. Indeed, God willing He will fulfill your needs(1).

In addition, record scholar Feiz in his book, Kholastol Azkar, has reported that Holy Zahra (Allah Salute) has said, “The Holy Prophet came to me when I had spread my mattress to go to bed.” He said, “O dear Fatima! Don't sleep unless you do four deeds; read the entire Koran, put Prophets as your intercessors, gladden the faithful, and finally perform obligatory and recommended pilgrimages to Mecca.”

The Prophet said these and, then, immediately started his prayers. I waited until he finished his prayers and said, “O Prophet of God! You ordered me to do four deeds which are beyond my power at this time.” His Holiness smiled and said, “First, whenever you read the Chapter 112 (Tawhid or Ikhlas) of Koran for three

times, it is as if you have read the whole Koran. Secondly, whenever you send Salavat (1)upon the Prophets before me(2) and me, we will be your intercessors. Third, whenever you ask forgiveness of God for the faithful, they all will be pleased with you(3). Moreover, whenever you say the Arba’eh Rosary(4), it is as if you have performed an obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca plus a recommended one.

The author says our professor Nouri in his book, Mostadrak, has mentioned that some Sunnis have reported the following prayer from some Gnostics in the book

called, Kholastol Kalam fi Omara Elbeladel Haram: “Allahoma rab al-kaba va ba'niha va Fatemata va abiha va baleha va baniha navver basari va basirati va serri va sarirti.” It means, “O Allah! The Lord of Kaba and its builder, and the Lord of Fatima, her father, her spouse, and her sons, illuminate my eyes and enlighten my clear-sightedness and inner self and soul.” By experience, definitely this prayer is useful for eyesight. Everyone who reads this prayer while wearing kohl around the edges of eyes, Almighty God improves his/her eyesight(1).

some great scholars mention, it is obvious that her demise has occurred on the third of Jamadi Al-sani(1). There are some evidences for it, but I am not going to mention them here. Thus, Holy Fatima lived only ninety-five days after her magnanimous father’s (Allah Salute) demise. On the other hand, according to authoritative Imam's sayings traditions, her Holiness stayed in this world only seventy-five days after her father.

In this regard, as it is common nowadays, both times are recommended for lamentation and mourning. Any way, after her magnanimous father, she did not stay long in this world whilst she was groaning and crying constantly. Lord only knows that how much she was in pain during

such a short span of time after her father and her harms. If someone were to ponder over (1)the words of Ali, (Allah Salute)after he buried Fatima whilst addressing the Holy Prophets grave, they would realize how much she was oppressed and hurt. Here are some of the words of his Holiness:

The Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute), told the Prophet that night, “Soon your daughter will inform you about your nations’ aid and abet and assistance in the

usurpation of my divine rights (2) and will let you know about herself who fell as an innocent victim to oppression. So ask her what has occurred. Soon she will tell you how much severe sorrow and burning pain

was on her chest that she could not express to anyone. Allah will judge for her. Allah is the best judge.”

Ibne Babeveih has recorded by authentic documents that" Bakka'oon" which means those who weep a lot were five individuals: Adam, Jacob, Josef, Fatima daughter of Mohammed (Allah Salute), and Ali son of Hussein (Allah Salute them all). As for Adam, he cried due to the separation from heaven until there remained two marks like small streams on his cheeks(1).

Jacob cried because of the separation from Josef so much that he became blind, until his sons told him, “We swear to God! You remember Josef until you make yourself ill and your body melted with

grief and you perish(1)."

As for Josef, he cried a lot because of the separation from Jacob so that the people in jail with him became annoyed from his crying and told him, “Josef! Cry at night and do not cry in the morning or cry in the morning and be quiet at night. ” So Josef accepted to cry in one of the times mentioned and be quiet at the other one.

After the demise of Holy Prophet (Allah Salute),Fatima(Allah Salute)cried in a way that Medina people got annoyed with her and told her, “It annoys us that you cry so much.” Therefore, her Holiness had to go to the martyrs’ tomb on Mt. Ohod (2)to weep. Then she would come back to Medina.

Even they slit throat of Imam Hussein's 6-month-old son in front of him, while thirsty and hungry

Imam Ali(1), the son of Hussein (Allah Salute), wept due to what happened to his father, Imam Hussein (2)(Allah Salute), and for his 6-months-old brother in Karbala for 20 years.

Others even say, he cried for 40 years. Whenever they brought him food, and whenever he drank water, he cried(3). As one of his servants whom he emancipated later had said, “I'm your devotee, O son of Prophet of God! I am worried about you. So much crying may put your life in

danger.” His Holiness replied, “I complain about the catastrophe of Imam Hussein and my grief to God. I know divinely what you do not know(1).

Indeed, whenever the martyrdom of the children of Fatima comes to my mind, it brings a lump in my throat and I start to cry.”

Sheikh Tousi by authentic documents has recorded from Ibne Abbas that when the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) was close to pass away, his Holiness wept so much that his tears were flowing on his beard. Some one said, “O divine messenger! What is the reason behind your crying?” He said, “I cry for my own children because of what the evil people of my nation will do with them after me. It seems like I see my

daughter, Fatima that they have oppressed her after me and she calls: oh father help! But no one in my nation helps her!”

Fatima cried when she heard these words. The Holy divine Prophet said, “Don't cry please! O my dear daughter!” Fatima replied, “I don't cry for what they will do with me after you. I cry because of the separation from you, O Prophet of God! ”

His Holiness said, “O my dear daughter! Glad tidings are that you will join me soon. You are the first one from family of five (1) that will join me. ”

Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) was afflicted by a severe illness that lasted forty days

According to the book Ravzat-al-Vaezin and other books, Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) was afflicted by a severe illness that lasted forty days. When she found herself on her deathbed, she called Omme Aiman(1)and

Asma Bente Omais (2) and asked them to call the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute).

When his Holiness arrived she said, “O My dear first cousin! News of my coming death reached from the heavens. I am on the deathbed. Let me make my will to you.”

His holiness said, “O the daughter of the divine Prophet (Allah Salute)! Make any will you wish.” Then he sat beside her and asked every body leave the room. Later she said, “O dear cousin! As you know, I

have never been a liar or a traitor, but I have been loyal to you. From the time you married me, I never disagreed with you.”

His Holiness said, “God forbid! You are more knowledgeable of God orders, and more righteous, pious, benevolent, and more God-fearing than that I can reproach you for being in disagreement with me. Separation from you is extremely painful. Nevertheless, death is the issue that has no alternative. I swear to God that you refreshed memory of the loss of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute), and the extreme grief of losing you is immense. Therefore, for the catastrophe that is unbearably painful for me, I would say, “Enna lellah va enna elaihe rajeoon(1),” which means:

Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed, towards him we will return. How much it is grieving and heartbreaking for me! I swear to God that there is no comforter for this catastrophe, and it is a disaster that has no substitute.” Both of them cried for a while. Then the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute) held the head of Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) in his arms and hugged her tight to his chest.

My last will is that you never let any of those who oppressed me attend my funeral

His Holiness said, “Make any will you wish! Because I will accomplish what you, say. And I will prefer your desires over

mine.” Therefore, Fatima (Allah Salute) said, “O first cousin of Prophet of God! May God reward you the best. This is the will:

First, since there is no substitute for men's marriage, marry with Amame(1). She is like me for children. Then she said, “Make a coffin for me, because I saw angels making a coffin for me.” His Holiness said, “Describe it for me please.” She described the coffin for him, and later his Holiness made it for her. It was the first suchlike coffin on that Earth(2).

Next, she said, “Also, I make my last will that you never let any of those who oppressed me and took my rights attend

my funeral. Because they are my enemies and the enemies of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute). Never let any of them or their followers do prayers at my funeral. Bury me at night, at a time when the eyes are shut.”

Kashf-al-Qomma and other books indicate that when Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) was close to death, her Holiness told Asma Bente Omais to bring water to perform minor ablution (1). Her Holiness performed her minor ablution. According to another recorded tradition, she performed major ablution. Indeed, the nicest major ablutions(2) she performed. Furthermore, she asked for perfume and

perfumed herself. After which she asked for new clothes and wore them.

Then she said, “O Asma! When the Prophet was on his deathbed, Gabriel brought forty dirham(1) of camphor from heaven. His Holiness divided it into three parts. He put away a share for himself, one share for Ali (Allah Salute) and one for me. Bring that camphor for him to embalm me with."

a little and then call. If I do not reply, call Ali (Allah Salute). At that time, you should know that I have joined my Father. ”

Asma waited a while. Then, she called her Holiness, but she did not hear any reply, so she said, “O daughter of Mustafa! O daughter of the best children of Adam! O daughter of the best man who has ever walked on Earth! O daughter of one who reached the place within an ace of God! ” (1)

Because Asma heard no answer, she picked the clothes up from her pure face and saw that her Holy blessed soul had just flown to heaven. Now, she fell upon her Holiness, kissing her and saying, “Please when you will be in the presence of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute),give

the regards of Asma Bente (1)Omais tohis Holiness.”

Meanwhile, Holy Imam Hasan and Imam Hussein (Allah Salute) opened the door and said, “O Asma! Why is our mother asleep at this time of day?” Asma replied, “Your mother is not asleep; she has joined the Lord of lords.” So Imam Hasan (Allah Salute) threw himself on her Holiness, kissing her luminous face saying, “Oh, mother! Please talk to me, before my soul leaves my body. ” Imam Hussein (Allah Salute)

threw himself on her foot, kissing it and saying, “Oh mother, I'm your son, Hussein! Talk please! Or I cry my heart out and this sends me to the next life.” Then Asma said, “O you two dear children

of the Prophet of God! You would better to go and let your magnanimous father know that your mother has just passed away.” Therefore, they both went out.

When they reached the mosque sobbing and crying, the disciples of the Holy Prophet ran to meet them and said, “O Sons of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute)! Why are you crying? May the Almighty never see your eyes crying! It seems you are missing your grandfather, and you are eager to visit him, isn’t it?” They replied, “Our mother has left this world.” When the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute)heard this terrible news, he fainted and fell unconscious on the floor(1). Afterwards,

someone poured water over his face so that he regained consciousness and said, “After you, to whom can I console?”

Imam Ali's poem translation:

The company someone keeps to separation always leads

Then he said this poem for the mourning of her Holiness: “lekolej temaen men farighaine forghton va kololazi doonal feraghe ghalilon. Va ennaf teghadi vahedan ba'da vahed dalilon ala an la yadoomo khalilon”

Which means: “Any companionship will finally lead to separation. Any catastrophe except separation by death is not important. For me, the reason that no

friendship remains is that Fatima passed away shortly after the divine Prophet (Allah Salute) did.”

The company some one keeps to separation always leads

In another record, “Asma tore her own collar open out of grief and went out of the room. Imam Hasan and Imam Hussein (Allah Salute) met her and said, “O Asma! Where is our mother?” Asma remained silent. Both two magnanimous Imams entered the room and found their mother

asleep. Holy Imam Hussein (Allah Salute) came closer, shook her Holy body, and found that she had left this world. So he said, “(*Ya Akha Ajarakallaho felvaleda)” which means: “O brother! May Allah reward you for your patience during the loss of our mother! ” So Imam Hasan (Allah Salute) threw himself on her Holiness.

According to a record in Rozatol Vaezin, when the news of the catastrophe of Fatima’s demise (Allah Salute) spread through Medina, both men and women came to tears and you could hear wails rising from houses. Men and women ran towards her Holiness house. The wails of the Hashimites' women gathered in her Holiness house could shake the foundations of Medina. They said, “O the best and

chief of ladies! O the daughter of the final Prophet!” Multitudes of mourners, one after another, came to condole to the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute). His Holiness was sitting and Imam Hasan and Imam Hussein sitting in front of him and crying.

People cried when they saw the Holy grandsons of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) crying. Omme Kolsoum (1)visited the grave of the Holy Prophet (Allah Salute) while overcome with grief and said, “O my Father! Oh, divine Prophet of God! Today, the tragedy of losing you has once again come upon us. You left this world and took your daughter with you today. ”

In the meantime, people who had

gathered there were crying and waiting for Fatima to be brought out. Then Abouzar came out and said, “Bringing the corpse out has been delayed.” So people dispersed and went back home. Late at night while people were sleeping, they brought the corpse of Fatima out of the house.

Ali (Allah Salute) buried Fatima at night and effaced the trace of her grave

The Holy Leader of Believers, Ali, Imam Hasan, Imam Hussein (Allah Salute), Ammar, Meqdad, Aqil, Zobair, Abouzar, Salman, Boraideh and a group of Hashimites and his Holiness close companions performed the prayer rites for Fatima (Allah Salute) and buried her the

very night. The Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute)

built seven other graves around her Holiness grave, so that others would not know where her grave is.

According to another record, he poured water on forty other graves so that oppressed lady's grave would remain unknown.

According to another record, he also leveled out the grave of her Holiness so that no sign of the grave would be visible. The reason for all these measures was to hide the exact location of the grave of her Holiness, stopping others to do prayers upon her grave and to prevent her exhumation. This is the reason why there are different views about the location of the grave of her Holiness.

Some recorders have said that it is located in Baqi (1)near

the other four Imams’ tombs. Some others have said that she is buried between the Prophet's grave and his Holiness pulpit in his mosque, because the divine Prophet has said, “There is a garden from the gardens of heaven between my grave and my pulpit, and my pulpit is on a door from the doors of heaven.”

Some people have said that Imam Ali (Allah Salute)

buried her Holiness in their own house. As an authentic tradition denotes, this is the most correct saying. Ibne Shahrashoub and others have recorded that when he wanted to put her Holiness in the grave, two hands like the hands of the Prophet of God appeared from inside the

grave and took her Holiness and placed her in the grave.(1)

Scholars Tousi and Koleini have recorded from Holy Imam Zeinol Abedin and Imam Hussein (Allah Salute) that when Holy Fatima (Allah Salute) fell ill, she made a will for the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute), to conceal her illness, not to inform people about her health and not to announce her affliction to anybody. Therefore, in such a way, his Holiness carried out her will(2).

Asma' bente Omais assisted his Holiness in these affairs. During this time, he hid the state of her Holiness from people. When she was on her deathbed, she made

a will that her husband, Holy Imam Ali (Allah Salute), himself should perform her funeral ablution and shrouding and that to bury her at night and to level out the grave of her Holiness.

So the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute), himself performed her major ablution, shrouding and other funeral rites. He buried her at night and effaced the trace of her grave, and while he was pouring the soil on her grave, the grief and sorrow of his Holiness climaxed and his Holy tears began to flow on his luminous face.

He turned towards the Holy Prophet's grave and said, “My salutations upon you. A salutation on behalf of your beloved daughter, your dear child, and your pilgrim

who has prepared to visit you and is lying between the ground and your arena. The Almighty God has chosen her among your Family of five (1)to

join you the earliest.

O Prophet of God! Because of your selection, my patience has diminished and separation from the best of women has weakened my strength. Although with patience in losing you and for the grief of being parted from you, I may hold the patience for losing her.

O Prophet of God! Indeed, I had put your body in the grave with my own hands after that your Holy soul flew between my chest and throat, and I shut your eyes with my own hands and undertook your affairs myself. Yes, according to the Holy book of

God that one should accept bereavement, the best acceptance he could, One should say," enna lellahe va enna elaihe rajeoon" that means: “Indeed to Allah we belong and indeed towards him we will return.” You regained your consigned daughter, you took your hostage of this world away from me, and you took Holy Zahra from me.

O Prophet of God! Tonight, how ugly are the blue sky and the dusty Earth to me. Grief will always be with me. I will be awake at nights. This grief will not leave me until Almighty God chooses me the house that you are residing in now. There is a wound in my heart and chest. A grief that inflicts pain! How quickly we were separated and we lose and miss each other! I complain about my state to God. Soon

your daughter will inform you about your Moslem nation’s abetment and assistance in the usurpation of my right (1) and will let you know about herself who fell as an innocent victim to oppression. So ask her what has occurred.

Soon she will let you know about her severe sorrows, burning pains and afflictions that were on her heavy heart that she could not express to anyone. Allah will judge for her because Allah is the best judge. O divine Prophet! Salutations upon you! A salutation from the one who bid farewell but his companionship has not led to boredom and does not quit because of enmity. If I leave your grave, it is not because of boredom and if stay next to

your grave, it is not due to mistrust in those rewards that God has promised to those who have patience. Indeed, patience is more auspicious and proper.

Ali (Allah Salute) buried Fatima in secret for the fear of her enemies

If there were not conquer of the group that has prevailed over us, I would indeed deem it necessary for myself to stay next to the grave and beside your shrine. Definitely, I would wail loudly at the top of voice at this intense disaster, like the wail of a woman whose child has died. God sees and knows it. Although, little time has passed since your departure and your name is still fresh, I bury your daughter in secret for the fear

of her enemies. They usurped her right by force and publicly prevented her from her inheritance. So I complain to you, O Prophet of God! There is a source of relief in your obedience so salutations of God and his grace and blessings upon her and you! ”

According to the most knowledgeable scholar Majlesi’s Mesbah-al-Anvar; Imam Sadeq (Allah Salute) quoted from his father Imam Baqer (Allah Salute) and he from his father Imam Sajjad (Allah Salute) and he himself from his father Imam Hussein (Allah Salute), that when Imam Ali (Allah Salute) put Holy Fatima in the grave, he said,” In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. In God's name and by Allah’s help, and in the path of the Prophet of Allah, Mohammed Ibne Abdullah (Allah

Salute). Oh Seddiqa(1)! I delivered you to the one who is superior to you than me(2). I agree about you in what God agreed about you.” Then he recited this Koranic verse: “From this soil we created you, and we will turn you back to it, and from it we will raise you again.”

Then, his Holiness poured the soil on her grave and ordered some one to pour water on it. Afterward whilst grieving, he sat next to her grave with his tearful eyes and his heart broken. After that, Abbas, his Holiness uncle, took him gently by the arm and took him away from her grave.

God will make heaven obligatory for anybody who sends salutations to him and me

The Martyred scholar Mohammed Ibne Makki has said in Mazare Dorous that the Holy Prophet has recommended visiting Holy Fatima (Allah Salute), the wife of the Holy

Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute), and the mother of Imam Hasan and Imam Hussein (Allah Salute), as a pilgrim. Holy Fatima has said, “My magnanimous father informed me that anybody who sends salutations to him and me, the supreme God will make heaven obligatory for him.” Somebody asked her Holiness, “Do you mean it during your lifetime?” She said, “Yes, and similarly the same applies after we pass away.”

Three places one should go as a pilgrim to visit her Holiness: her Holiness house,

the garden(1), and Baqi. Her Holiness was born five years after the Prophet's Be'sat(2), and she reached to God's grace and passed away approximately one hundred days after her magnanimous father’ demise.

The most knowledgeable scholar, Majlesi, said, “Seyyed Ibne Tavoos has recorded that anybody who sends the following salutations, God forgives them and sends them to heaven: “Assalamo alayke ya sayyedata nesael alamin…” which means: “salutations of God be upon you, O the best lady of the Worlds! Salutations of God upon you, O mother of the living proofs of God to all human beings! Salutations of God upon the oppressed one whose right is usurped! ”

Then say, “O Allah! Send salutations upon your servant, the daughter of your Prophet and the wife of your Prophet's successor, the salutations which draw her nearer to you more than all your honored servants who live either in the skies or on the Earth.” Finally, ask also forgiveness from God.

This brief salutation is authentic, and anyone can perform it at any time and from any place.

She was pregnant with a child, she miscarried after the Prophet's demise

The author says, “I have mentioned how to perform the pilgrimage and mentioned the heavenly rewards for it and the different views about the location of that oppressed

lady’s grave. In this short book, I content myself with what mentioned.

You should know that her Holiness had four children: Imam Hasan, Imam Hussein, Zeinab Kobra, and Zeinab Soqra whose nickname is Omme Kolsoum (Allah Salute them all). She was also pregnant with a child that the Prophet had named Mohsen before. However, she miscarried after the Prophet's demise (1). ”

“Indeed, there is a treasure for you in heaven, and you are its possessor” The Holy Prophet says to the Holy Leader of Believers, Ali (Allah Salute). Sheikh Sadouq says about this prophetic saying that , “I heard from some of the elder scholars saying the treasure the Prophet

has told Ali (Allah Salute) possesses in heaven, is that very Mohsen, who was miscarried because of the pressure of the door while the house was being attacked.”

This inadequate author says, “I have narrated the catastrophes that befell upon Holy Zahra (Allah Salute), in a special book called “Beitol Ahzan fi masa'ebe sayyedaten nesvan” or “The house of mourning for the catastrophes of the best of women.” Anyone who seeks the truth may refer to that book. This book cannot cover it comprehensively.

The supreme God is the one who makes successful and the one whose aid is sought after.
